Action week against racism : 2017 edition

The XIII edition of the Action Week against Racism took place from 20 to 26 March 2017, a traditional UNAR event aimed at a wide audience: the intense calendar of information, awareness and territorial animation initiatives was promoted throughout Italy in the world of schools, universities, sport, culture and associations.

The event is held every year on the occasion of the worldwide celebration of the Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, set on March 21 by the General Assembly of the United Nations, in memory of the massacre perpetrated by the South African police in 1960, in Sharpeville, 69 demonstrators protesting peacefully against the racist laws enacted by the apartheid regime.

In 2017 the Week was launched under the banner of “Color is better”, winner of the contest “The next anti-racist slogan you choose!” Held in 2016 and proposed by the students of a secondary school in the grade of Zevio (from Verona).
